Dr. Deepali Rao
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Deepali Rao is a trained clinical & child psychologist. She has done her education in Psychology from Delhi University. She has done her professional training (MPhil and PhD in Clinical Psychology) from National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. She has been practicing as a clinical psychologist in Delhi-NCR for 14 yrs. In the past, she has worked extensively with children & adolescents, adults and families in the area of mental health problems within hospital settings. She collaborated with several organizations in providing corporate counselling to employees.
At Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (VIMHANS, New Delhi) for 11 years, she provided psychotherapy for a variety of mental health challenges to adults, couples, as well as children and adolescents. She trained psychology interns in clinical skills, as part of postgraduate internship programs.
She has organised and conducted several awareness programs among the community and training workshops among professionals, on child/adolescent mental health issues such as anger, aggression and behavioural problems in youth, bullying, road rage, media and youth, parenting. She trained in the Comm DEALL model of early intervention for autism and in parent training for developmental disorders. She conducted an early intervention programme for children with Autism and their families for 4 years at VIMHANS.
She is now an independent practitioner of psychotherapy in New Delhi, who works with a varied age range and populations. In her practice, she uses a trauma- informed lens and employs an integrated psychotherapy approach (CBT, person-centered and trauma therapies) in individual therapy with adults. She is trained and certified in trauma-based therapies such as EMDR therapy. In her psychotherapy work with couples, she follows a systemic, solution-focused or trauma-based approach.
In her work with children, adolescents and youth, she integrates developmental, behavioural and narrative approaches.
